Case Study: Kozhikode, Kerala

Kozhikode Multi-Sport Turf Arena

Complete turnkey sports infrastructure project delivered by HATCO SPORTS INFRA featuring engineered drainage, heavy-duty structural columns, and tournament turf.

Completed Kozhikode Turf Field

Project Overview

Located in the scenic sports corridor of Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala, this project required the transformation of an open terrain parcel into a premier, all-weather multi-sport facility capable of supporting football and recreational sports play.

HATCO was contracted to execute the end-to-end scope: from topographical ground leveling and sub-surface drainage piping, through multi-layered stone aggregate base laying, turf installation, customized perimeter fencing, and tournament-grade LED illumination.

Engineering Challenges & Solutions

Challenge: Heavy Kerala Monsoon Rainfall

The facility required zero surface water stagnation even during continuous heavy monsoon spells typical of Northern Kerala.

Solution: A multi-tiered crushed granite stone foundation underlaid by perforated PVC drainage collector conduits laid to a 0.5% laser gradient leading into an external catch-pit network.

Challenge: Perimeter Safety & High Ball Velocities

Preventing ball loss, ensuring player collision protection around tight boundary runs, and withstanding tropical corrosion.

Solution: Heavy-duty galvanized steel structural posts engineered with protective red lower impact zones, anti-rust yellow epoxy finish, and 2.5mm UV-stabilized nylon perimeter enclosure nets.
